The amount of increase will vary depending on the vehicle (engine, air induction system), driving habits, environmental conditions, and other factors.</LI> <LI><STRONG>Are Air Hog™ Filters emissions legal?</STRONG> Yes, because the Air Hog™ filters are designed to be factory replacements and drop into the stock air filter housing.</LI> <LI><STRONG>Will an Air Hog™ filter cause my mass air sensor to fail?</STRONG> Typical damage to a mass air sensor is caused by excessive oil accumulating on the sensor. This failure is sometimes caused by over oiling the air filter and is identified as a check engine light. All Air Hog filters have had the optimal oil loading applied from the factory. This insures that the filters are less likely to bleed off any oil. Furthermore, if you follow our service procedures your air hog filter should not cause any problems.</LI> <LI><STRONG>Can an engine get too much airflow?</STRONG> No, an engine is designed to take in a fixed amount of air depending on its size. The vehicles air intake system causes a fair amount of restriction robbing the vehicle of the potential to produce power. Using an Air Hog filter reduces that restriction improving the engines potential to produce power.</LI> <LI><STRONG>Will I need to make adjustments to my vehicle after installing an Air Hog™ Filter?</STRONG> If needed, most modern engine management systems will adjust themselves after a period of time. You may find it necessary to adjust vehicles with carburetors.</LI> <LI><STRONG>What is the Micron Rating and Filter efficiency of an Air Hog™ filter?</STRONG> The High Performance filters are rated at +97% overall efficiency at a nominal 26-28 micron (Course Test Dust). <P> <STRONG>This is based on the following</STRONG>:<BR> Test Procedure SAE J726, Section 3.4<BR> Rated Test flow based on most common application for model filter being tested.<BR> Filter is oiled between 1 gram/14.7 SQ-IN media to 1 gram/10 SQ-IN media<BR> Oil is applied to dirty side of filter.<BR> The right type of oil is being used.</P> <P>The filter will provide repeatable performance throughout multiple cleanings, this assuming the oil is being reapplied as described. However, it is recommended to replace the filter once you get in excess of 20 cleanings.</P> <P>Typical OE specs call for the filters to be rated at +97% overall efficiency at a nominal 8-9 micron (Fine Test Dust). This resulting loss is in trade for the gain in cleanable and restriction reduction. Note: The restriction for a drop-in is typically half what OE filter is.</P> <LI><STRONG>Will the Air Hog™ filter void my warranty?</STRONG> Air Hog drop in replacement filters are covered under the Magnuson-Moss warranty act. These products have been specifically formulated and tested to provide the best performance on our products.
